Yes, you are correct that the roads in some parts of the island are extremely poor. That's why I have voiced my opinion to the government about investing in infrastructure. But to pretend that St. Lucia is the only place in the world with poor roads is unfair. I assume you might be from America. Even there, you have bad roads, though perhaps not on the same level. However, compared to other countries, the situation is similar. You mention that my island is poor, and when you Google it, it says it's poor. St. Lucia has never claimed to be an island of wealth, but like most places, we have wealth gaps - some people are rich, and some are poor. America is a large country, so it's difficult to compare, but if you look at individual states, many of which are larger than St. Lucia, you'll find greater wealth inequalities in some of them than in St. Lucia. I've been to places in the U.S. where I've seen more poverty than I ever have in St. Lucia. Look at how America treats some of its people, for example, in places like Cancer Alley and many of the states who suffer with lead in their water. Yes, there are many people on the island who are not as financially stable as the average American, but let’s not forget that in St. Lucia, very rarely will you see anyone starving, as most of us know how to grow our own food. St. Lucia faces the same issues as anywhere else in the world - unemployment, a shortage of jobs, and global economic crises. We are not immune to these problems, but we are a resilient people and continue to work through them as best we can. You commented on the quality of the food, saying it’s not great unless you pay thousands. Every individual has their own taste preferences, and what you dislike, someone else might enjoy. It’s wrong to generalize. There are foods in the U.S. that many find unappealing, yet the U.S. has the highest obesity rate in the world. That speaks to food quality and choices as well. Lastly, you mentioned that you may never return, which is fine, but it shows a narrow mindset to assume that all islands are the same. Traveling is an experience, and like you and me, we are among the lucky few who get to see what the world has to offer. But there are still some people who believe America is the world. My final point: Many people say Africa is poor or backward, yet billions are stolen from Africa by more developed countries. We in St. Lucia may be from a small island, but we are incredibly proud of it. Have a great day. P.S. Hello, I am curious. How long did yall book your hotels before traveling to St. Lucia? I just got back last week; I stayed Friday to Friday at all-inclusive resort and only paid $1241.63 for the entire stay. (Booked around 70 days out). Like most islands in the Carribean islands if you wait to close to your travel dates prices increase a lot, especially in summer season.

I rented a car and drove all over Belize. It was a good experience. Despite their British heritage, they drive on the right. (I would never try driving left, because my instinctive reactions would be wrong in an emergency!) Belizean roads are good enough. Just watch for wildlife and livestock. The only real limitation is signage. The prevailing wisdom seems to be "Anybody with any business going already knows the way."

ST. LUCIA'S poor? laughable...ok....says the guy who drove on rural agricultural secondary /feeder roads. In his head expecting a materialistic society. St. Lucians are modest and aren't poor, nor suffering compared to the crushing unrivaled abject poverty I've seen in the US which you gloss over... Poverty exists in every country, however St. Lucia has no streets dedicated to drug addicts, homelessness is minimal, universal free health care is available to all, a higher standard of living compared to many. Compared to where you're from where you clamour for health care coverage, live in constant fear, toxic culture of hate...btw why did you come to this 'poor' country?? Let me guess your poor self couldn't afford anything else?? you used your credit card or a payday loan?? We hear the stress in your voice contemplating on repaying the loans...debt is poverty. Sounds like a staycation would be better suited to your circumstance. FACT: St. Lucia Real GDP $22,700 (2023) vs USA $73,600 (2023 est.) ... (impressive for a country who's population and economy is many times smaller than the US) ..do the math if you have that capacity and apply some critical thinking if you can. Nice video. The majority of people these days are always on their phones, laptops, or talking to other people. So you'd have to interrupt them in order to talk to them. What would you do if they are not interested in talking to you?

I once slept on the floor with a 3" latex mattress for over 4 years. Fast forward almost a decade I'm now looking to revert back... Mattresses are too soft, heavy, an eyesore, expensive, not supportive, the list goes on.

Elevated off the floor like that is a no go for me. Futon meant to be down low baby. Being on an actual bed now vs down low on the floor, getting in and out of a bed instead of up off the floor basically sacrifices all the benefits of having a futon, imo. Plus now you can't just throw it in a closet, clearly. Especially if you're aging and overweight, or obese or even grossly obese in my case, sleeping on the floor is a massive boon for your life. You lose so much mobility as you age, and gain weight. Sleeping on the floor and having to get down and up from it every single day, even multiple times a day if you go nap, maintains a better minimum baseline of mobility and health.

I just ordered the cheap futon from amazon beacaue thats what i can afford at the moment. Cant wait to get it! Thanks for the video! I'll makensure to revisit this video when I can upgrade to a better futon.

RE: sleeping on the ground. I used to live in Georgetown, TX, a bit out in the country Austin suburb. What really drove me nuts was every day, every night, I would get 2-4 scorpions in the house. Usually I'd catch them when I woke up to pee - always had to turn the lights on. So. Sleeping on the floor has some disadvantages in places with a lot of bugs.

Hi, so you talked about how you cleared your acne and that helped you gain self esteem. But what to do when you have insecurities about something that can not be changed, like height or weird facial features. How do i train my mind to like myself when everytime i see a mirror i hate myself, and on the top of it i'm in an environment where i am constantly reminded of how ugly i am. Family and friends compare me with siblings and you know all sort of things like these. Self talk works only until i see the mirror again or someone points out my crooked nose. Then it's all back to square one. Please guide.

I used to sell mattresses and I can tell you, how much cushion the mattress needs depends on body fat percentage. If you’re heavier, plush is better, if you’re thin, firm is better. It depends how deep you sink. A thin human body has a natural weight balance to it that thinner old style mattresses do fine with.

Futons are fine if you weigh less than 160 lbs. But as soon as you enter a heavier body mass, futon loose their ability to provide adequate support. Otherwise, we'd see a huge demand for these around the world in 5* hotels.

I like the idea of sleeping on the floor, but I’m 78 and it’s not that easy to stand up from the floor anymore. A futon on a platform as in this video would solve that issue.

Actually, in our traditional Japanese way, we sun-dry futons in backyard almost everyday for sanitary and for the joy of smelling outside air and sun when you get in futons at night😊

I have scoliosis and always preferred a firmer, thinner mattress. Maybe just enough cushion that it’s not uncomfortable to turn on my side. cheap memory foam works for me but considering more eco friendly materials like wool or cotton when it’s time to get a new one

generally women should not sleep on firm beds due to higher bone and joint porosity, and body curves esp form bone structure like the hips which need more cushioning so the tailbone muscles and tissues are not affected. However there are futons that are super soft and if you must you can always layer 2 on top of each other. This is what I have seen at Ryokan of we explain the person has back ache.
